additional info: Matty has been building some very fast mud racing rigs for quite some time. The "Blazabbit" was actually built to be more of an all purpose 4x4 instead of strictly racing...although it is still pretty dang fast! At Downriver Days 2008 he was casually driving to Ione to join in the parade when components from his steering column separated. Although he was going only about 10MPH, his tire grabbed on the should and yanked his rig (remember no steering?) right off the cliffside and he rolled it down a hill. There were several people in the rig when it happened including Matty's daughter, Heidi, her daughter, Buddy Lee, his son, also Jared and Rusty. Matty had some serious should separation requiring a couple surgeries, Heidi got a gash on hear head and a hell of a concussion, Buddy Lee and his son were ejected and his son was hospitalized over night...although the kid is made of steel and was out riding his bike the very next day. At the height of the rumors upwards of 400 people died... no one died and the most serious injury was Matty himself who is doing fine but unable to do anything physical...and is begging for help to get his rig back together!
